In the morning of November 1, 2022, the round table "Partnership between Russian and Chinese higher educational institutions: new challenges and perspectives" was held within the International forum of People's Diplomacy "Dialogue on the Volga: Peace and Mutual Understanding in the XXI Century".

It was organized by the Center of People's Diplomacy of Volgograd State Social and Pedagogical University (VSSPU), and Volgograd administration.

The round table united experts from VSSPU, Ulianovsk State Pedagogical University, Pskov State University, the director of the "Russkiy Mir" Foundation Far-East branch and representatives of teacher-training universities from 5 Chinese cities.

The round tabled started with the opening remarks by the VSSPU Vice Rector Sergey Glazov who emphasized the long history of the cooperation between VSSPU and Chinese universities, as well as the importance of strengthening the partnership between Russian and Chinse higher educational institutions.

The Chair of Volgograd City Council Vladlen Kolesnikov remarked that Volgograd has 44 sister-cities and partner-cities, among which a special mention goes to three Chinese ones: Jilin, Chengdu and Qujing, which were all represented at the Forum this year.

The Chair of Volgograd branch of the "Russian Peace Foundation" International Foundation, and honorary Volgograd citizen Yury Starovatykh reminded the event's participants of the festive occasion: it was exactly 2 years ago, on November 1, 2020, that the cooperation agreement was signed between Volgograd and Qujing.

The university representatives discussed the top-priority cooperation areas between Russian and Chinese universities; paid tribute to the role that Confucius Institutes play in establishing and sustaining such cooperation; outlined their experience in the realization of joint Russian-Chinese educational projects; dwelled on the issues of academic mobility.

At the end of the event, Qujing Normal University suggested signing a memorandum on cooperation with VSSPU, and this initiative was met with universal approval.
