Volgograd Children Choir sang at the international festival in Chengdu

Those who had been following our preparations for the Victory Concert in May already know that our Chinese twin-city – Chengdu – has a recently established but increasingly active Children Choir. In 2021, its singers and coordinators invited their colleagues from their twin-cities to take part in the International Children Choirs Musical Week in Chengdu – which, too, was held online this year.

Held between October 3 and October 8, the festival was broadcasted on Chengdu TV under the slogan "Panda's Singing!" For Chengdu, pandas are the most special animals heralded as living symbols of the city.

The Musical Week united 8 choirs – from the US, Mexico, Australia, South Korea, Japan, Belarus, and, of course, Volgograd!

Our city was represented by the Joint Choir of the Children Art School No.2 in the Krasnoarmeysky district of Volgograd. Its participants performed two songs: "Glory to Volgograd" and the famous "Song about the Motherland far-far-away" from the cult TV series "Seventeen Moments of Spring", and also prepared a whole introductory speech fully in Chinese. Recorded against the background of the Volga-Don Canal and the Lenin's monument, the recording allowed the singers to demonstrate not only their vocal prowess but also the iconic landmarks of Volgograd.

According to the festival organizers, Volgograd videos were met with a warm welcome by the audience. Which is not surprising when you look at it!
