A video about Volgograd by Julia Rudova and Alina Smirnova

As you already know, in 2021, the partner-cities Volgograd and Cologne are carrying out their joint project – "Nostalgia Tourist". Today, a tour around Volgograd is given by a duet of most creative guides: first-year students of Volgograd Institute of Management – RANEPA branch Julia Rudova and Alina Smirnova, who are both majoring in the Psychology of Employment Activity.

Julia loves everything connected to music; she takes singing lessons and plays several musical instruments.

Alina is a dedicated dancer. When it comes to people, she values spontaneity and the ability to think outside the box, and when it comes to cats – the fact that they will eventually save our world. They and kindness, that is.

The frames you see in the young ladies' video are a combination of what Alina and Julia filmed themselves with the best shots of Volgograd Municipal TV and some footage by quadcopter pilots. The resulting short movie is dedicated to the landmarks and places that give Alina and Julia a surge of energy and pride for their city.

What reasoning would you use to persuade foreign friends to visit Volgograd?

Julia Rudova: You will never regret coming to Volgograd! There are a whole lot of breathtaking landmarks to be found in our city, even apart from the rich history! And each of them is something to be definitely seen with your own eyes, as no picture can ever convey their grandeur and power. Volgograd is a city where people are friendly and hospitable, and the emotions you encounter are positive and memorable.

Alina Smirnova: Our city is a very versatile place that is beautiful in any weather. Here, everyone will find something to do and enjoy. And if you don't come to Volgograd, you have every chance of missing something really wonderful.

Let's say you have one day in a completely unfamiliar city. Where would you go, or what would you do first?

Julia Rudova: I would wake up really early and go exploring the city's culture, its historic landmarks, its museum and theater! I would like to meet its people, talk to them, see this whole new world and gain a deeper insight into it. I would make a lot of photos and videos, in order to preserve this moment forever. Yes, I would be speaking with the locals, tasting local dishes and enjoying the moment.

Alina Smirnova: First of all, I would like to see the city's nature, visit its most unusual places and, ideally, taste exotic local food.
