During their stay, the guests met with Volgograd city administration officials and visited Volgograd Regional Children Art Gallery.

Zinaida Kosareva, Acting Head of the International and regional relations directorate, noted that Volgograd has three sister cities in China and attaches great importance to cooperation with them. She spoke about the partnerships between schools in Volgograd and Chengdu and the performance the "Volzhanochka" dance troupe gave at the 2026 International Sister Cities Festival in Chengdu. She also invited the Chinese colleagues to a roundtable discussion on historical and patriotic tourism, scheduled to take place online in late October.

Larisa Tropkina, Chair of Volgograd City Duma Committee on Education and Culture, highlighted that cooperation is most active in the fields of education, culture, and youth exchanges — which is especially meaningful in the context of the Years of Russian-Chinese Cooperation in Education.

In response, Mr. Li Xudong spoke about Chengdu and proposed developing student and school-based projects, noting that Russian language courses are popular in many of the city's schools.

Mr. Yan Ming shared his impressions of the children's art exhibition and described how Chengdu is making the city more attractive to young people.

It is worth noting that the meeting was held at the Children Art Gallery for a specific reason: the venue is currently hosting an exhibition showcasing the results of the international contest "About Myself and the World. The Blue Roads of the Earth." Participants submitted over 700 children's drawings for the event, 150 of which came from China—specifically from Chengdu, Jilin, and Qujing. The organizers deliberately increased the proportion of Chinese entries in the exhibition to ensure the theme was explored with greater depth and diversity.
